THE ‘SON’ RISES, AND SU/KA PREVAILS
New Champions Crowned at Melee 2012

SANTA MARIA, CA (VP) — Once again, Santa Maria packed a capacity crowd of over 1,000 screaming fans into the Lakeview Jr. High School Gymnasium as Vendetta Pro Wrestling presented arguably the biggest event in it’s history.
Four former WWE and TNA Superstars were in action, including two former World Champions. The show began with an unscheduled appearance by Billy Blade, but he was soon joined by Matt Hardy, who was ready to get into action right away. While the two were kept apart for the moment, they would meet in the ring later on in the evening.
Also in action was Shark Fights MMA Heavyweight Champion and former WWE-owned ECW World Heavyweight Champion Bobby Lashley! He took on World Wide Internet Champion “Wrestling Personified” Rik Luxury. Former TNA X-Division Champion Shawn Daivari participated in a Tri-Force match with SoCal Crazy and former WWE Development talent “Nightclaw” Brian Cage. Gangrel The Vampire Warrior was in action against The Drunken Irishman.
In addition, championship gold would be on the line as Dos Perfectos would defend their tag-team titles, while Shannon Ballard would defend his Vendetta Pro Heavyweight title.

Opening Six-Way
Elimination Match

“The Rebel Rouser”
Clay Tawzer

-vs.-
Ricky Ruffin
-vs.-
Tenchismo
-vs.-
Fernando Estrella
-vs.-
“Apostle”
Judah Matthew

-vs.-
Trent Savage

Six men in one match to open Melee 2012. The way this match worked, was that two men would begin while the other four could be tagged in at any point. The match would continue until five of the six men had been eliminated as a result of pinfall, submission or disqualification. Mucha Lucha members Tenchismo and Fernando Estrella would be opponents in this one, although technically, they could work together by tagging each other in-and-out of the match as they would a traditional tag-team match until they were the only two remaining. We’ll never know, because the match was interrupted by:

“The Destroyer of Man”
Damien Grundy

Grundy came in, and immediately began assaulting everyone who was in the ring, including a devastating sitout powerbomb which just obliterated Fernando Estrella. However, the massive Grundy may have just met his match in big man Clay Tawzer. We’ll see in the near future if Vendetta Pro is ready for a clash of these two titans.

Result of the match:
No Contest

Tag-Team Match
All Pro Wrestling / Vendetta Pro Wrestling
Unified Tag-Team Championship

SU/KA
Sunami
& Kadin Anthony
-vs.-
Unified Tag-Team Champions
Dos Perfectos
Greg Hernandez ‘y’ Jesse Jimenez

Dos Perfectos went into the match, having been undefeated for over a year. They won the Tag-Team Championship at Summer Sizzle last year in Atascadero, and unified the titles with All Pro Wrestling in December or last year. The last time they were defeated, it was by the team of Sunami and Kadin Anthony–the same team they would be defending against, and in the same venue no less.
Former Vendetta Pro Wrestling Heavyweight Champion Sunami traded in his rematch clause for a shot at the Tag-Team titles along with Kadin Anthony–the one man who had his back when nobody else did.
Greg Hernandez dedicated the match to his friend and mentor, Kory, who had passed a few days prior.
It was clear from the outset that the wear-and-tear of defending the Tag titles all over the State of California–along with the passing of Hernandez’s mentor–had taken it’s toll on Dos Perfectos. Jesse Jimenez had come into the match favoring his knee, while Hernandez wasn’t in his usual state-of-mind. That said, Dos Perfectos put on an effort that made it clear why they were the defending Champions.
As a team, SU/KA knows Dos Perfectos better than anyone–as they’ve been the team the Perfectos have faced more than anyone. SU/KA was well-aware of what lengths Dos Perfectos would go to in order to win.
Many times during the match, it seemed as if Dos Perfectos would once again pull off the win and retain their titles.
Hernandez nailed the Perfecto Cutter onto Sunami, which would spell the end as the referee counted one, two, thr-NO! Showing the heart of a Champion, Sunami managed to get the shoulder up right as the referee was about to hit the mat for the count of three.
When the chips are down, Dos Perfectos are known for using illegal double-team tactics and even foreign objects to win. Jesse Jimenez went to the outside, most likely in preparation for those very same tactics. However, while battling Kadin Anthony, Jimenez re-aggravated the injury to his knee. This left Hernandez alone inside, and after taking the F-Su from Sunami followed by the Senton Bomb from Kadin Anthony, the referee made the count of three and history was made as we have new Champions!

Singles Match
APW World Wide Internet Champion
“Wrestling Personified”
Rik Luxury

w/ Markus Mac
-vs.-
Former WWE & TNA Superstar
Shark Fights MMA Heavyweight Champion

“The Dominator”
Bobby Lashley

This was a featured match that was a match made back at Shamrock Slam. Rik Luxury made his way to the ring first, along with his self-professed “Manager of the Century” Markus Mac. Luxury brought with him his World Wide Internet Championship belt from All Pro Wrestling, and stated that even though Vendetta Pro has been screwing around with him, he has still been successful and has brought his Internet Championship with him to prove it. He then stated that this would be a “non-title” match (Note: Although the World Wide Internet Championship is recognized in Vendetta Pro Wrestling, as of press time, Vendetta Pro does not sanction World Wide Internet Championship matches.). Luxury then went on to state how Lashley is not a contender for the Internet Championship, and that he left Professional Wrestling to move to Mixed Martial Arts to “lie down”.
Once the match began, Lashley looked, well… dominant. He made it look almost like more of a training session than a wrestling match. However, Luxury had one thing that Lashley did not… Markus Mac. Once Markus got involved, Luxury was able to capitalize on the situation. It was from this point that Luxury started to show why he has won titles up-and-down the West Coast, looking impressive against the larger man. Towards the end of the match, Lashley began to fight back, and after delivering perhaps the most brutal Spear ever seen in a Vendetta Pro Wrestling ring, Lashley got the three-count and the win.

Winner by Pinfall:
Bobby Lashley

After the match:
Lashley then took the Internet title belt away from Markus Mac, and lifted it over his head. Perhaps now, he will be considered as a contender for the World Wide Internet title?

Eight-Person Mixed
Tag-Team Match

The team of:
Parental Discretion
Mario Banks
, Mike Menace & Jeremy Jaeger
&
“The Sin City Siren”
Terra Calaway

w/ Ghetto Star & Skinny Bones Jones
-vs.-
The team of:
Creepshow
Brawlin’ Bo Cooper
, Sledge & J.D. Horror
&
“Creepy”
Crystal Michelle

The rules of this mixed tag match were that the men can only compete against the men, while the Vendetta Vixens can only compete against each other. A rule that would come into play as part of the decision. Bo Cooper had both Mario Banks and Terra Calaway down in the corner and was ready to lower the boom with the Bronco Buster. Banks quickly moved out of the way, but Calaway was unable to escape as the 300-plus pounder crashed down upon her. The referee, who had been knocked downa few moments before, came to and saw Cooper land on to Calaway. This caused the official to call for the DQ.

Winners of this match
as a result of a disqualification:

Parental Discretion
&
Terra Calaway

After the match:
Parental Discretion, perhaps rightfully upset at what happened, decided to up the ante and bring a table into play. However, they never actually got to use it, as all three members of Creepshow were already in the ring and ready for whatever the three men were ready to do, as it was they who set the table up. Mario Banks is a man of wealth and few morals, who has no problem in using the means at his disposal. He told Creepshow that if it was hardcore that they wanted, it was hardcore that they would have, and that they have enlisted the services of

Former ECW, WCW, WWE & TNA Superstar

Raven

Banks promised that soon, Parental Discretion will unleash the former ECW & NWA World Heavyweight Champion upon them. While we have seen that Creepshow can go to great lengths in the ring to win a match, are they ready to take on the sadistic hardcore icon? Parental Discretion’s biggest fan, Skinny Bones Jones, perhaps foolishly rushed in for a fight and he found one, as he was laid to waste by Creepshow. Horror climbed up onto the second rope while Cooper and Sledge set Jones into position. Horror then Powerbombed Jones off the second rope and through the table. Perhaps sending a message to Parental Discretion and their hired gun, Raven!

Tri-Force Match
SoCal Crazy
-vs.-
“Nightclaw”
Brian Cage

-vs.-
Former WWE & TNA Superstar
Shawn Daivari

Brian Cage made his return to Vendetta Pro Wrestling, taking on the high-flying SoCal Crazy and former TNA X-Division Champion Shawn Daivari. Both Cage and Daivari looked to be in phenomenal condition, while the smaller SoCal was able to use his Lucha Libre style to compensate. Brian Cage used a number of unorthodox maneuvers, and had SoCal Crazy defeated. However, with Tri-Force matches, you always have that third man to watch out for, and in this case, it was Daivari who threw Cage through the ropes and out of the ring and got the pinfall.

Winner by Pinfall:
Shawn Daivari

Singles Match
The Drunken Irishman
-vs.-
Former ECW, WWE & TNA Superstar
Gangrel
The Vampire Warrior

Gangrel came out first, and was clearly in no mood to play games. The Drunken Irishman came out second, and was clearly in no condition to compete.
This was barely a match, with Gangrel getting in a good 75% of the offense, finishing it off with the Impaler.

Winner by Pinfall:
Gangrel

After the match:
A disgusted Gangrel picked up his opponent, and delivered an Implant DDT to the already dazed-and-confused Irishman.

Singles Match
“The Rock of Love”
Billy Blade
w/ “Wildside” Vega Velocity & Sebastian Ice
-vs.-
Former WWE & TNA Superstar
Matt Hardy

The man from Sunset Blvd. in the Hollywood Hills brought his entourage fellow Midnight Delight member “Wildside” Vega Velocity and Sebastian Ice with him to take on the man from Cameron, North Carolina, Matt Hardy. Hardy, a multiple-time World Champion in both the singles ranks as well as one-half of the famous Hardy Boyz along with his brother Jeff. Blade, a competitor who has competed the world over against many others who have been at the top levels of Professional Wrestling.
Billy Blade’s entourage came into play (as expected), and Blade’s trademark offense of deadly kicks and of course, the Unskinny Chop, nearly got him the upset victory many times in the match. But Hardy, who says he’s “stronger than death”, refused to die. Towards the end of the match, Vega Velocity got involved while Sebastian Ice distracted the referee. But Hardy nailed him with the Twist of Fate. Moments later, he hit Billy Blade with a Twist of Fate which allowed him to make the pin and get the victory.

Winner by Pinfall:
Matt Hardy

After the match:
Matt Hardy’s celebration was short-lived, as Billy Blade, Sebastian Ice and Vega Velocity attacked from behind and laid a vicious beatdown upon Hardy. The trio then brought in a ladder, and used it both as a weapon, as well as a symbol for the type of match in which he would then challenge Hardy to–a ladder match! We will keep you posted as to if, when and where this match will take place on our website, vendettaprowrestling.com. The Office of the Commissioner of Vendetta Pro Wrestling has stated that while they’ve repeatedly fined Blade and other members of the Midnight Delight in the past, that this assault may result in new records for sizes of fines.

Main Event
Singles Match
Vendetta Pro Wrestling Heavyweight Championship

Hijo de Rey Misterio
-vs.-
Vendetta Pro Wrestling Heavyweight Champion
Shannon Ballard

An International Incident! Canada’s Shannon Ballard takes on Mexican-American superstar Hijo de Rey Misterio.
This match took place more on the outside than it did on the inside. The referee showed much restraint in calling for countouts or disqualifications as the Vendetta Pro Wrestling Heavyweight Championship was on the line. Misterio introduced the steel chair into the match, as well as his high-flying Lucha Libre maneuvers. Ballard did well to keep up with him, and even managed to nail his spectacular finisher, the Air Canada. However, Misterio just would not stay down! The Champion had one thing that the challenger couldn’t match… an identical twin brother! When Shannon got into trouble, Shane Ballard rushed in and took his place. However, it was at this point that SU/KA came down and got the attention of the referee, showing that Shannon–the Champion–was on the outside! Back at Shamrock Slam, the Ballards used this tactic to steal the Vendetta Pro Heavyweight title away from Sunami. The new Tag-Team Champions made sure they wouldn’t use it to retain, and moments later, Misterio got the pinfall on Shane Ballard. As the referee was not sure which Ballard was actually in the ring, he made the three count and called for the bell… we have a new Champion! The same technique that won Shannon Ballard the title has now cost him the title.
